R.I.P. Garrett Gomez

Yesterday we lost a great jockey and from all personal accounts a great man with a generous nature and big heart.  Garrett Gomez battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout his life and career only to finally succumb to an overdose Wednesday.  He followed in the footsteps of his father becoming a jockey after dropping out of high school at 16 to ride at Santa Fe Downs.  Winning 3,769 races over a 25 year career, including 13 Breeder's Cup victories, but none more memorable than his ride in the 2010 Breeder's Cup Classic win on Blame over Zenyatta.  In a four year stretch, from 2006 - 2009 he was the nation's leading jockey by earnings, while claiming two Eclipse awards for best jockey, just to name a few of his accolades.  The list of notable horses he has saddled is a who's-who of stallions and broodmares.  And while he defeated countless opponents over his vast and storied career, there was one opponent he would never defeat, addiction.  So please take the time to reflect on your own life and those around you who are afflicted with this disease that is often celebrated and laughed at, for it can truly be deadly.  Please enjoy Garrett's finest ride of his career and his post race analysis and remember him as the champion he was.

Been in Cali enjoying Santa Anita, Del Mar and the Breeders Cup and it's been awesome!  But now it's back to work.  I'm going HAM on this!

Farewell

Hello, folks, I come bearing sad news for all of you who come here for the free PP's.  I will be ending the updates to this blog as of this upcoming Monday, August 22nd.  However, I will still keep this blog available, as a resource for those who wish to collect and collate the free pp's on their own.  Perhaps sometime down the road I will resurrect this blog, but for the foreseeable future, it will lie dormant.  Thank you for your support over the years.

Redboarding

Guys I've been failing you for years in not saving these pp's for redboarding for you.  I do it for myself, but if you don't save these pp's on your computer, you don't have that opportunity.  Redboarding is a critical part of the handicapping process as it helps you figure out what you should have noticed the first time around.  So I will start putting out of date links in a new tab marked "Redboard."  I hope you find this as useful as i do.

I really dislike the majority of the personalities on TVG, especially Todd Schrupp, for fun! ; and I don't like anybody who charges me for depositing money.  But they do have a nice high quality signal and allow you to monitor multiple tracks without switching signals, as you have to do with twinspires or other ADW's.  And they now stream their channel and TVG2 on their website, free of charge and without time limits, if you're a member.  I have huge problems with TVG but they did this right, so here's the link:  https://www.tvg.com/live
